Material Drift
2026

Multidisciplinary monographic art project
Site-specific mixed-media installation:
printmaking, drawing, screen printing and video projection

Material Drift focuses on processes of material transformation connected to printmaking, specifically the chemical reactions between copper sulphate and aluminium, which generate surfaces that change progressively over time. Rather than resulting from a pre-composed image, form is not predetermined but emerges, producing deposits, crystallisations and alterations that cannot be fully anticipated.

There is no hierarchy among the resulting elements—video, plates, prints and remnants—as they all form part of the same process. In this context, the project’s initial concept, landscape, is not represented but produced. The work invites a way of looking that extends beyond the transformation itself to the temporality that makes it possible.

The project was exhibited at Sala 6 of the Universidade de Évora as part of Mirar de cerca, alongside work by the artist Kika Beneyto.
